Write for us
We welcome considered pitches about landscapes, buildings, routes, place names and the small details that help readers understand a place. A strong contribution is specific, grounded in what can be described and useful without requiring the reader to rely on a professional or local authority.
What to pitch
Send an original idea with a clear subject and a reason it matters to a general reader. We are interested in pieces that explain a feature, compare two ways of reading a place, trace a piece of background, question a familiar assumption or offer a careful way to look at a particular setting.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the working title, central question, intended reader and the shape of the piece. Explain what material supports the account and which details are observation, interpretation or documented history. Avoid broad proposals, unsupported claims, promotional copy and subjects that depend on advice about safety, law or local permissions.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include a short outline and any relevant writing samples or source notes in the message. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication.
